Understanding Cloud technology – what cloud option should I choose for my business?
There are many Cloud computing models; the main models being public and private Cloud.
Cloud Computing is one of the most hyped and publicised trends in IT. That’s because, done effectively, a Cloud-based infrastructure can offer many advantages.
Public Cloud consists of a service or set of services that are purchased by a business or organisation and delivered over the internet by a third-party provider. It’s a pay-per-use way. While this approach offers high agility for standard infrastructure and competitive commodity pricing, the concern is security and uncertainty of where data is being stored. Data sovereignty is important to consider as businesses with compliance and legal implications must meet certain criterias.
Private Cloud on the other hand offers the highest control over data and business applications. The Private Cloud also gives internal IT departments more robust administrative capabilities and the ability to perform critical tasks more efficiently without interruption.
